The Made In France label allows consumers - you - to know the origin of a product and ensures that you make the right choice when purchasing. Unfortunately, it is more complicated than it seems, simply because it is not possible to tell the difference between a product made in France from French raw materials or from other origins...
At LUMEN our position is clear: the candle manufacturing workshop is in France (in Charleville-Mézières in the Ardennes to be precise) but we have our raw materials manufactured in France too!
We are therefore particularly proud to have our glasses manufactured by the La Rochère glassworks in Haute-Saône.
Our perfumes are of course manufactured in Grasse by a specialized laboratory which strictly complies with our specifications which prohibit all substances harmful to humans and the environment.
Unfortunately the wax does not come from France, we have not found a partner, so it comes from Sweden.
We make these choices for environmental and social reasons. It is unthinkable for us to buy or subcontract in countries where labor is low cost. Cheap labor goes hand in hand with a low standard of living for employees but also with dangerous working conditions and we do not support this!
We know the working conditions in France, they are governed by labor law and they are probably the best in the world and the choice of Sweden for our wax was made naturally for the same reasons.
